Our 2018 Year in Review

For Eri Design and our valued clients, 2018 was an eventful year and a big step forward. We expanded our reach into Boston and Portland, worked on some amazing projects, and even had the pleasure of hosting our largest office event to date! We’re extremely thankful to the institutions, organizations, and brands who entrust us with the privilege of being their digital design partner. Without further ado, here’s our 2018 year in review!

A change of scenery

This time around, the change of scenery of our main office didn’t come at the beginning of the year, but at the end. We didn’t move far at all – just down the road to the opposite side of East Park. The new space is super charming and we’re starting to liven up the walls with some inspiring artwork. And yes, the ping pong table made it to the new space as well.

In-house improvements

We took several steps towards expanding our business. For starters, Raffi Der Simonian joined our team as a senior partner and our lead strategist. After serving as Director of Marketing & Communications at Maine College of Art for the past six years, he made a leap to pursue his own entrepreneurial aspirations. Raffi brings extensive experience in communications, marketing, institutional advancement, and business development. In fact, we have worked closely with Raffi (in a much different capacity, as a client!) when he served in leadership positions at Becker College and Maine College of Art. He recently shared his wisdom in his latest blog post, how to write a website design RFP.

With Raffi’s experienced background and more clients to serve, we decided to expand our reach with an Eri Design office presence in Boston, MA and Raffi’s hometown of Portland, ME. The new locations will provide a convenient meetup spot for clients in the Boston and Portland area while increasing our overall accessibility to new markets.

Also, we added website consulting to our services catalog as we acknowledge that many websites change over time. We can step in to put your website back on track, and more importantly, back in line with your vision. Not every business is a perfect fit for website consulting, but if you think it’s something you could use, drop us a line.

Projects

2018 was a big year for us in numerous ways. In addition to upgrading our office digs and expanding our strategic offerings, we also launched the new clarku.edu in partnership with Clark University. Easily our most ambitious project yet, we worked closely with Clark’s IT and marketing departments to help them tell their story through a dynamic, engaging and robust “mobile-first” online experience. We encourage you to read our project write-up or simply visit the site to take in the full expereince.

We managed to achieve design nirvana in our work with Insight Meditation Society – perhaps one of our most distinctively unique web experience to date. Some highlight features are the “wavy” image slider and the new audio page, which offers users a one-of-a-kind way to listen to mediation talks. Get the full scoop here.

Our long-time client FIBA Technologies, one of the worlds largest gas tubes manufacturers, got a facelift with a clean and robust website design. We reimagined everything from their services to product inventory, making for the most fluid user experience possible.

These projects are just a small sampling of what we accomplished in 2018, so if you want to see more of our work, visit our work page! In 2019, we are eager to continue building our talented team by inspiring and engaging audiences with a healthy mix of strategy, creativity, and technology.

Our work in a 1-minute nutshell

The best part about working with a variety of clients is finding new ways to meet their needs. With so many unique projects under our belt, we needed a singular destination to show it all off. So, we made a video showcasing some of our favorite parts of the websites we’ve built. It’s a testament to our clients and our team – showing what’s possible when vision and creativity come together.

Guiding the next generation of web enthusiasts

This past year, we did something we’ve never done before: hosted a field trip! We welcomed students from Marianapolis Preparatory School to teach them how to set up and customize their own wordpress.com blog. It’s great to see the youth take interest in web design and we’re sure they’ll create some awesome stuff!

Wrapping up our 2018

This past year was a defining year for us as we expanded our reach and worked on some of our biggest projects yet. Through them, we were able to refine our own internal workflow which will lead to better solutions for our clients. We will be charging into 2019 with a full head of steam and the ever-present drive to serve you.
