Dynamic and Modern Website for IDC
Insight Dialogue Community is a non-profit organization that specializes in relational meditation practices and teachings to support a wise and compassionate life. Supported through the guidance and resources of the Metta Foundation, its central offering is a relational, and interpersonal understanding of early Buddhist teachings and the innovative, structured meditation practice of Insight Dialogue. The Insight Dialogue Community practices and teaches in several forms including retreats, daylong workshops, community practice groups, and online sessions.
When Insight Dialogue approached Eri Design, the organization was going through a rebranding process, changing its name from Metta to Insight Dialogue Community. The ultimate goal was to provide an online community for teachers, and guides to provide information and resources as well as provide access to other retreats. The site needed to be functional, with programs available online for users to register for, and provide a system to search and store the teachings database and resources.
After our initial meeting with Insight Dialogue Community, we understood that they wanted their website to give a sense of a physical community within a virtual space. With a design emphasized on user experience, we developed a new custom WordPress website that was the powerhouse behind their content, event registrations, and resource library. This gave them the effective navigation they were looking for.
Knowing the need to integrate with Retreat Guru, we made that a priority of our design. Insight Dialogue community uses Retreat Guru to bring teachers, students, and organizations together and makes it simple to sign up for future opportunities and to find teachers. These events are showcased on IDC’s homepage and other areas of the website.
We re-envisioned the website’s experience, by designing a site that conveys a sense of relational practices, a sense of welcomeness and a sense of community, to give a sufficient overview of the practice.
The website was designed with its end-user in mind. Call action areas for retreats and practice, giving, and teachings are clear and consistent across the site. The WordPress theme customized for IDC structures the navigation and powers the pages and content throughout the site. The theme is immaculate and fresh with bright colorful images and friendly earth-tones.
